Lovely small old Italian musical jewellery box. Beautiful marquetry inlay to the lid and Mahogany veneers. Original tapered feet.

This is a lovely small vintage musical jewellery box, made in Italy in the 1950s/60s.
The Exterior
The lid has a beautiful burr Elm wood panel and decorative marquetry inlay. The inlay is made from several colourful varieties of wood which contrast beautifully.
The surface of the lid has a smooth polished glossy finish.
There is a beautiful Mahogany veneered frame to the lid and Mahogany veneered panels to the body of the box. There is also inlaid Ebony stringing to the sides of the box.
The box has its original polished piano hinge. This is a 'stop' hinge which holds the lid upright.
The box stands raised on its original tapered feet.
The Interior
The interior has a single small unlined storage compartment. The musical movement is cased to the right of this.
There are pretty emerald green faux jewels applied to the casing of the movement.
The compartment is suitable for small pieces of jewellery such as rings, earrings and pendants.
The Musical Movement
The movement winds up via the key on the bottom of the box. 5 turns of the key are sufficient to play the tune in full.

The movement has been tested and is in good working order. The tune plays a little slow.
The music stops as it should, when the lid is closed or when the movement has fully unwound.
Notes on Musical Movements
As with all musical boxes, care should be taken not to over wind the movement. Over winding can result in the movement malfunctioning.
We are not responsible for movements that malfunction from further age and use, once boxes are purchased. Please check the tune is playing correctly as soon as you receive the box. Thank you.

Condition
This box is in very fair condition for its 50/60 years of age. It is structurally sound and has no nasty splits or cracks.
All of the inlay is present and intact.
There is some age related wear to the Mahogany veneer and minor little chips to the wood around the winding key.
