This is a lovely early Victorian jewellery box, dating to 1850/60. It is made of solid Mahogany and is in very good condition for its age.
The Exterior
This box has a stylish sarcophagus shape and splined mitre joints which you don't see that often. It is complete with its original hinges and also has its original covering on the bottom.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment. There is a new cushioned black felt lining in the base, added to protect the intended contents.
Condition
This box is in very good condition for its age. It is of sound structure and its hinges are still in perfect working order.
The Mahogany has some age related light surface wear, light scratches, and a few little dints. There is some wear to the covering on the bottom of the box, but the majority of it is present and intact.
