Beautiful inlaid vintage musical jewellery box with crystals set in a swag formation. Decorative Arts and Crafts design. Circa 1940s.

This is a beautiful vintage musical jewellery box. It dates to the 1940s and has a decorative Arts & Crafts design.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid Oak. Its front and sides are decorated with crystals and the lid has various inlaid woods. The crystals are positioned in a swag formation.
There is decorative carved detail around the bottom of the box and the box stands raised on turned wood ball feet.
The box is complete with its original catch and brass 'stop' hinges. These hold the lid upright.
The Interior
The interior has a deep compartment to the left and the musical movement is on the right. There is a wooden panel which conceals the movement and there is shallow storage space above this. There are new pink felt linings to the compartment and the panel.
The Musical Movement
This box has its original Swiss, Ste Croix, Reuge, 18 note musical movement. This is in very good working order, playing the tune at its correct speed. We have not been able to decipher the tune.
Operating The Musical Movement
The movement is operated via the winding key on the bottom of the box. 5 turns of the key are sufficient to fully wind the movement. Care should be taken not to over wind the movement.
Note
Please note that the stopping wire for the movement has been removed. The music will therefore play until the movement is fully unwound, and will not stop when the lid is closed.

Condition
This beautiful box is in very good condition for its 70 plus years of age. All of the inlay is present and intact and the hinges are still in perfect working order.
There is some age related wear to the wood. This is predominantly on the back of the box where there are visible faded patches.
There is one crystal missing from the bottom panels on each side of the box.
