New Zealand Native Timbers Vintage Jewellery Box

This is a beautiful vintage jewellery box, dating to the 1980s. It was made in New Zealand and features numerous native timbers.

The Exterior

The lid has beautiful marquetry inlay, skillfully positioned to create a wonderful symmetrical design. The inlay consists of several varieties of timber which are native to New Zealand.

The box is complete with its original hinges and the maker's label is still present on the bottom of the box.

The Interior

The interior has a single storage compartment, complete with its original red felt lining. The inside of the lid is also inlaid with the same timbers as those on the exterior. Each variety of wood is listed on the inside in pokerwork lettering. Pokerwork, or Pyrography as it is sometimes known, is a skilled wood burning art.
