Beautifully veneered and inlaid vintage jewellery box with a design inspired by both Victorian and Art Nouveau Arts and Craft boxes. Sparkly faceted faux Diamond to the lid. Felt and velvet lined interior.

This is a beautiful gem set vintage jewellery box. It dates to the 1970s/1980s and has a design inspired by both Victorian and Art Nouveau Arts & Crafts jewellery boxes.
The Exterior
The exterior is beautifully veneered and inlaid with a variety of colourful woods.
The lid has an Art Nouveau Arts & Crafts design. It is veneered with 9 separate shaped pieces of wood, divided by finer inlaid strips of wood. The beautiful diamond-shaped inlay in the centre is set with a large sparkly faceted faux diamond. The edges of the lid have a dark ebonised finish and beautiful fine Ebony and Satinwood stringing.
The front of the box is also beautifully decorated. It has stunning inlaid 3-dimensional shapes and beautiful strips of banded and ebonised inlay.
The bottom of the box has fine strips of banded inlay running all the way around it.
The inlay to the front and the strips of banded inlay are beautifully bordered with fine Ebony and Satinwood stringing.
The lid has a lovely large shaped lip which enables you to lift it up with ease.
The box has beautiful polished brass 'Butterfly' hinges. These are very decorative stop hinges which hold the lid upright.
There is a soft red felt covering on the bottom of the box which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has a removable storage tray at the top and a single compartment beneath.
The tray has a lovely shaped resin handle which has the appearance of Ebony wood. It has fine strips of banded inlay plus Satinwood and Ebony Wood stringing.
There are further fine strips of inlay to the interior at the top.
The tray and lower compartment have soft red felt linings which match the felt on the bottom of the box.
The inside of the lid is lined with a beautiful crushed velvet panel.
Condition
This beautiful box is in very good condition. It has sound structure and very little wear.
All of the inlay is present and intact. It is set beautifully flush against the veneer.
All of the interior linings are neatly fitted and in lovely clean condition.
The hinges are still in excellent working order.
