A beautiful antique jewellery box from the Black Forest region, circa 1890. Stunning high relief carvings and a fully refurbished interior. Working lock and key.

This is a beautiful Victorian jewellery box from the Black Forest region. It dates to the late 19th century (1890) and is in excellent condition.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid Oak. The lid has stunning high relief carved Oak leaves and acorns, with further Oak leaves carved into the surface of the wood on either side. There is a frame of further carved decoration around the edges of the lid and further carved Oak leaves to the front, rear and left/right sides of the box.
There is a decorative brass escutcheon to the keyhole. This is not original to the box but it also dates to the Victorian period.
The box is complete with its original hinges plus its original working lock and key.
The bottom of the box has a new felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has been fully refurbished by our skilled box restorer. There are new padded emerald green satin panels to the base of the compartment plus the inside of the lid, and new quality sage green paper linings to the walls. The padded panels provide cushioned protection for jewellery.

Condition
This wonderful box is still in excellent condition, despite its 130 years of age. It has sound structure and very little wear.
The hinges and lock are still in good working order.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate unworn condition.

International postage is £30 by Royal Mail International Tracked and/or Signed For postage. Delivery is fast, within 3-5 working days to Europe and 5-7 working days to the rest of the world. Delivery may be longer depending on the speed of your local postal service and/or if your parcel has to go through customs. Please note that we cannot deliver to international PO boxes as we use a secure insured postal service that requires a signature.
