The Exterior
This box is made of solid Mahogany and is veneered with a variety of exotic hardwoods, including Amboyna, Satinwood, Kingwood and Boxwood. There is a highly decorative marquetry inlaid panel on the lid which features beautiful flowers and leaves.
The bottom of the box has a new felt covering that will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The box is complete with its original brass stop hinges which hold the lid upright. It also has its original working lock and key.
All of the veneer and inlay is exquisite, making this a very special box.
The Interior
The entire interior has been newly refurbished with beautiful raspberry red satin panels. The panels to the base of the lower compartment and inside of the lid are padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery. All of the refurbishment work has been carried out by our very skilled box restorer.
The interior has its original hardwood tray with multiple compartments of varying shapes and sizes. These are ideal for keeping different types of jewellery separate. Beneath the tray is a large spacious single compartment. This is deep enough and roomy enough to store large pieces of jewellery such as broad bangles, watches, and chunky beads.

Condition
This beautiful box is in excellent condition for its age. It has sound structure.
All of the veneer and inlay is present.
The hinges and lock are still in good working order. The key securely locks the box.
All of the refurbished satin panels are in unused/unworn condition, being new.
There are some minor age lines to the veneer. These are only visible in certain light and they do not affect the structure of the box. There is a small chip to the veneer on the left side of the lid. These minor defects do not spoil the overall appearance of this rather special, beautiful box.
There is a little clicking sound when the lid is opened.
