A very stylish and rare Art Deco box with trays. Made of Mahogany and decorated with beautiful copper tubing and banding. The interior has a new padded blue satin panel.

This is a beautiful rare stylish Art Deco box with semi circular trays on either side. It dates to the 1920s/1930s and is in lovely condition for its 95-105 years of age.
The Exterior
This box and trays are made of solid Mahogany which has lovely figuration and a warm rich colour. The box has beautiful engraved copper banding, as well as a solid copper handle. The trays have very decorative copper tubular edging.
The box has an interesting roll back lid and its original turned hardwood squat bun feet.
The Interior
The base of the interior compartment has a new padded blue satin panel. This provides cushioned protection for jewellery.
History
This box started life as a stylish, expensive cigarette box. It is a wonderful piece of social history which is now suitable for the storage of both jewellery and/or trinkets, with the newly added satin panel making the box itself more functional for holding jewellery. This is a very rare item with only two of its exact type being available on the market - (info correct as of 11/10/2025).
There is NO cigarette odour present.
Condition
This beautiful box is still in very good condition. It has sound structure and only minor light wear, commensurate with age and honest use. The copper fitments are also in very good condition and both these and the Mahogany have a wonderful aged patina.
The interior satin panel, being new, is in immaculate unworn condition.
