A beautiful mid Victorian jewellery box, dating to the 1850s/1860s. It has stunning Rosewood and Satinwood veneer and a beautiful new fully refurbished interior.

This is a beautiful mid Victorian jewellery box, dating to the 1850s/1860s. It has stunning Rosewood and Satinwood veneer and a beautiful new fully refurbished interior.
The Exterior
This box has beautiful alternating bands of Rosewood and Satinwood veneer. The bands run vertically across the lid and extend down the front of the box. The sides and rear are fully veneered with Rosewood.
There is a nice inlaid metal escutcheon to the keyhole.
The lid is complete with its original brass 'stop' hinges which hold the lid upright. It also has its original brass lock.
There is a new felt covering on the bottom of the box which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
Note
The lock is no longer functional and therefore has no key.
The Interior
The interior has been beautifully refurbished by ourselves.
The base of the compartment has a new royal blue velvet panel. This is padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
The walls of the compartment and inside of the lid have new high-quality blue paper linings.
The rear wall to the inside of the lid has a stunning new floral printed paper panel. The colours of this paper complement the velvet and blue paper linings, particularly the blue flowers across the centre of the panel.
Condition
This beautiful box has sound structure and is in very good condition.
All of veneer is present and secure.
There are three small pieces of replacement veneer to the front left/right corners of the lid. These are old repairs which have been done extremely well.
There is a thin slither of veneer missing at the very bottom of the right side of the box. This is barely noticeable.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate condition.
The hinges are still in very good working order.
