A lovely small vintage jewellery box from Sorrento in Southern Italy. It has pretty inlaid detail to the lid and soft plush navy blue velvety linings to the interior compartment.

This is a lovely small vintage jewellery box from Sorrento in Southern Italy. It has pretty inlaid detail to the lid and is in very good condition. It dates to the 1980s.
The Exterior
This box has beautiful Birds Eye Maple wood veneer and a stylish angular shape. The lid has a very pretty inlaid floral sprig and the wood has a glossy polished and varnished finish. The edges of the lid have a dark stained finish which contrasts beautifully against the lighter veneer.
The box has its original gold metal piano hinge.
The bottom of the box has retained its original maker's and Made In Italy labels. The maker is the La Carmencita firm of Sorrento.
The Interior
The interior has its original deep navy blue velvet-like linings.
Condition
This box is in excellent vintage condition. It has sound structure and very little wear.
All of the inlay is present and intact, set beautifully flush into the veneer.
The hinge is in good working order.
The linings are clean and in good condition with no splits or fraying.
