A lovely vintage jewellery box, made in Sorrento, Italy. It dates to the 1980s/1990s and is in very good condition. The box is musical and plays the tune 'Vienna Life'. The interior has its original dusky pink velour linings.

This is a lovely vintage jewellery box, made in Sorrento, Italy. It dates to the 1980s/1990s and is in very good condition. The box is musical and plays the tune 'Vienna Life'.
The Exterior
This box has beautiful rounded sides, a burl wood veneer finish and stunning floral inlay on the lid. The inlay consists of several colourful varieties of wood.
The entire box has been highly polished and varnished. This has given it a gorgeous glossy sheen and it is beautifully smooth to the touch.
The edges of the lid are beautifully framed with a darker wood veneer and fine stringing.
The box has its original polished gold metal piano hinge.
The bottom of the box has retained its original REUGE Swiss musical movement tune title label.
The box stands raised on its original beautifully shaped gold metal bun feet. It is complete with its original key.
The Interior
The interior has a single small storage compartment with a ring storage section on the left. The musical movement is cased to the right. These all have their original dusky pink velour linings.
There is further shallow storage space (1.5cm depth) upon the ledge of the musical movement's casing. Some small pieces of jewellery such as stud/hoop earrings and pendants can be placed here.
The inside of the lid and top edges of the compartment, have beautiful Mahogany veneer. This also has a glossy high polished and varnished finish. A frame of fine inlaid stringing surrounds the veneer.
The Musical Movement
The movement plays the beautiful tune 'Vienna Life'.
The movement is in perfect working order, playing the tune at its correct tempo.
Operating The Musical Movement
The movement is operated via the winding key on the bottom of the box. Five turns of the key are sufficient to fully wind up the movement. The music stops as it should, when the lid is closed or when the movement has fully unwound.
Notes On Vintage Musical Movements
As with all musical boxes, care should be taken not to overwind the movement. Overwinding will result in the movement malfunctioning. Please allow the movement to fully unwind before rewinding. We are not responsible for movements that are overwound or for movements which deteriorate from further age and use once boxes are purchased.
Please check the movement is still working as soon as you receive your box. It will be checked again prior to posting.

The movement's casing can easily be removed should it ever require attention.
Condition
This box is in very good condition. It has sound structure and only very minor light wear, commensurate with age and honest use. All of the inlay is present and intact.
The interior linings are neatly fitted. They have some minor light marks from previous jewellery storage.
The hinge and lock are in good working order.
