This is a very rare vintage jewellery box, designed by the British WALDY company. Further details about this company can be found further down this page. The box was made in the mid 20th century, circa 1950s/1960s.
The Exterior
This box has a beautiful stylised heart shape and a lovely gold velvet finish.
The bottom of the box has a green felt covering. This bears the designer's original label, plus a MADE IN ITALY stamp.
The Interior
The interior is also lined with velvet. This is a slightly different colour to that on the exterior, having a mustard like shade of gold. The interior walls of the lid have a leather/faux leather lining.
Condition
This box has sound structure and is in pretty good condition for its 60-70 years of age. The exterior velvet has worn/discoloured slightly around the base of the box. This doesn't spoil the beautiful overall appearance of the box. The padding beneath the velvet on the lid has flattened, resulting in some 'rippling' to the velvet here. It isn't as taut as it once would've been.
