This is a lovely antique Edwardian jewellery box with a beautiful newly refurbished interior. The box dates to 1909 and is in very good condition.

This is a lovely antique Edwardian jewellery box with a beautiful newly refurbished interior. The box dates to 1909 and is in very good condition.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid Oak. The lid has a stylish pyramid-like shape and the keyhole has a solid silver shield shaped escutcheon which is fully hallmarked. All of the oak has been newly sanded and varnished.
The box is complete with its original brass stop hinges which hold the lid upright.
There is a new felt covering to the bottom of the box which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Oak is beautiful Tiger Oak and its charateristic stripes can be seen on all four sides of the box.
Please note - the lock is not functional and therefore has no key.
The Interior
The interior has two storage compartments which have been fully refurbished by ourselves. Their bases have new premium velvet panels and their walls have new high-quality paper linings. The velvet panels are padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
Hallmark / Maker's Mark
The silver escutcheon has a full London Assay Office hallmark which dates it to 1909. Its maker's mark CW & S NB pertains to C Widmer & Sons of St John Street, London.
Condition
This wonderful old box is in very good condition. It has sound structure and only minor light wear, commensurate with age and honest use.
There are some light surface scratches and light tarnish to the silver escutcheon.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate condition.

Please note that we cannot deliver to international PO boxes as we use a secure insured postal service that requires a signature.
