A wonderful old Art Deco jewellery box with a faux crocodile skin finish and newly refurbished velvet lined compartments. Circa 1920s/30s.

This is a wonderful old Art Deco jewellery box with a faux crocodile skin finish. It dates to the 1920s/30s. The interior compartments have been fully refurbished with ivory velvet.
The Exterior
This box has a faux crocodile skin finish which has a warm reddish colour to lid and a dark tan finish to the body. It has a stylish elongated octagonal shape and its original clasps which close the box securely.
The bottom of the box has a new felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
There is embossed gilt detail around the edges of the lid and base of the box.
The faux crocodile skin has been treated with a nourishing cream to make it more supple and prevent it from drying out/obtaining further wear.
The Interior
The interior has four compartments, all beautifully refurbished with new ivory velvet linings. The base panels of the compartments are padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
The inside of the lid has its original high-quality bevel edged mirror and ruched cream satin linings. The material covering the hinge is also original.
The top edges surrounding the compartment have embossed gilt detail.
Condition
This box has sound structure and is still in very fair condition for its age. There is some wear to the exterior faux crocodile skin, however this is mainly confined to the edges of the lid.
The compartments linings, being new, are in immaculate clean unused condition.
The original satin linings inside the lid are still clean and neatly fitted.
There is some foxing to the mirror as we'd expect due to its age.
The clasps are still in excellent working order, locking the box securely.

International postage is £30 by Royal Mail International Tracked and/or Signed For postage. Delivery is fast, within 3-5 working days to Europe and 5-7 working days to the rest of the world.
