A beautiful restored and refurbished antique jewellery box from the late Victorian period. It has newly polished Rosewood veneer and beautiful new interior linings. Working lock and key.

This is a beautifully restored and refurbished antique jewellery box from the late Victorian period. It is a lovely large sized box with plenty of storage space.
The Exterior
This box has beautiful Rosewood veneer which has been newly polished. There is a lovely inlaid Mother of Pearl cartouche to the lid and complementary inlaid Mother of Pearl roundels to both the lid and front. Beautiful double frames of inlaid pewter stringing further decorate the lid and front.
There is a decorative raised brass escutcheon to the keyhole and the box is complete with its original brass 'stop' hinges plus working lock and key.
The bottom of the box has a new felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Rosewood veneer has attractive figuration, particularly on the lid.
The Interior
The interior has its original storage tray which has lovely retracting brass ring handles. The tray has been newly restored and refurbished. The wood has been sanded, stained and varnished, and the compartment has a new padded royal blue velvet panel plus new quality blue paper linings to the walls. There is a new felt covering to the bottom of the tray. The brass handles enable you to lift the tray from the box with ease.
The compartment beneath the tray plus the inside of the lid are both lined in the same fashion. The padded velvet panels provide cushioned protection for jewellery. The lower compartment is deep enough to store large pieces of jewellery such as broad bangles and watches.
Age
1880/1890
Condition
This box is in very good condition. It has sound structure and only minor light age related wear.
The hinges and lock are still in good working order.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate unused condition.
All of the inlaid decoration is present and secure.
