This is a beautiful small Art Deco box which has recently been converted into a jewellery box. It dates to the 1930s and is made of Electroplated Nickel Silver. It has a gorgeous glossy high polished finish and the appearance of solid silver. It is beautifully engraved and newly lined.

This is a beautiful small Art Deco box which has recently been converted into a jewellery box. It dates to the 1930s and is made of Electroplated Nickel Silver. It has a gorgeous glossy high polished finish and the appearance of solid silver. It is beautifully engraved and newly lined.
The Exterior
The lid has beautiful engine turned engraving, with a central vacant (unengraved) cartouche which can be engraved with a name/initials/date if desired. Your local keycutter can provide this service. The lid also has a beautifully shaped lipped handle which enables it to be lifted up with ease.
The Interior
The interior has been newly refurbished by ourselves. The bases of the compartments have new premium royal blue velvet panels, and the walls have high quality blue paper linings. The velvet panels are padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
Maker's Mark/Metal Marks
The bottom of the box is stamped ARISTOCRAT (the maker), H.E.P.N.S.B (with EPNS being the abbreviation for Electroplated Nickel Silver) and MADE IN ENGLAND.
Condition
This box is in lovely condition for its 90 plus years of age. The hinge is still in perfect working order and the lid closes flush.
There is minor light wear/faint light surface scratches to the metal. The metal has been polished but has a few spots of tarnish remaining.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate condition.
History
This box started its life as an expensive cigarette box. It is a wonderful piece of social history that has now been converted into a much more functional jewellery box.
