This is a beautiful modern musical jewellery box. It plays 'The Magic Flute' by Mozart wh0 composed this in the late 18th century for the opera of the same name. This is a wonderful high-quality box by The San Francisco Music Box company. It is in very good preloved condition
The Exterior
The lid has a stunning large colourful floral feature. This is a transfer printed feature with the appearance of burl wood and inlaid flowers. The box is made of wood which has been stained a deep cherry red. You can see the lovely marbled like grain beneath the stain. The edges of the lid and base have a beautiful ebonised appearance. The entire box has a high gloss finish.
The box has high-quality retracting quadrant hinges. These hold the lid upright.
The box stands slightly raised on gold-finished brass bun feet.
The bottom of the box has a brushed black flock covering and has retained its manufacturer's/song title labels.
The Interior
The interior has 3 storage compartments and a large ring storage section. The musical movement is cased in the top right corner. The compartments, casing and the walls inside the lid, have soft brushed cream flock linings.
There is a lovely large mirror to the inside of the lid.
The Musical Movement
The movement plays 'The Magic Flute' by Mozart who composed this in the late 18th century for the opera of the same name.
The movement is in perfect working order, playing the tune at its correct tempo.
Operating The Musical Movement
The movement is operated via the winding key on the bottom of the box. 4 turns of the key are sufficient to fully wind up the movement. The music stops as it should, when the lid is closed or when the movement has fully unwound.
Notes On Musical Movements
As with all musical boxes, care should be taken not to overwind the movement. Overwinding will result in the movement malfunctioning. Please allow the movement to fully unwind before rewinding. We are not responsible for movements that are overwound or for movements which deteriorate from further age and use once boxes are purchased.
Please check the movement is still working as soon as you receive your box. It will be checked again prior to posting.

The ledge of the movement's casing can easily be removed should it ever require attention.
Condition
This box is in very good preloved condition. It has sound structure and only very minor light wear to some of the corners, This is commensurate with previous honest use.
The interior flock linings are neatly fitted and in good clean condition.
The mirror is clear and has no chips or cracks.
The hinges are in good working order.
The musical movement is in perfect working order, as stated above.
