Beautiful vintage Italian jewellery box from Sorrento. Lovely burl wood veneer and colourful vitreous enamelled finish. Beautiful inlay to the lid and soft brushed felt linings to the compartment.

This is a beautiful vintage jewellery box, made in Sorrento in Southern Italy. It dates to the 1980s and is in wonderful condition.
The Exterior
This box has a very stylish design with beautiful rounded sides to the body. It has beautiful burl wood veneer and a stunning colourful vitreous enamelled finish which has a gorgeous subtle shimmer. You can see the beautiful figuration of the burl wood through the enamel.
The lid has beautiful inlaid decoration which features a mandolin, an oboe, a musical score sheet and leafy vines. The inlay consists of several variety of woods, including shimmery Satinwood.
The entire box has been polished and varnished. It is therefore beautifully smooth to the touch and has a gorgeous glossy sheen.
The edges of the lid are beautifully framed with Mahogany veneer.
The box has its original polished gold metal piano hinge.
The bottom of the box has retained its original makers label. This shows the box was hand made by the inlaid wood works firm, Attardi of Sorrento.
The Interior
The interior has a single small storage compartment. This has its original soft brushed red felt linings.
The inside of the lid and top edges of the compartment, have a beautiful Mahogany veneered finish to complement that on the exterior. All of the veneer has a glossy polished and varnished finish.
Condition
This beautiful box is still in wonderful condition. It has sound structure and very little wear.
The interior linings are still in lovely condition. They are clean, neatly fitted and have no splits or fraying.
The hinge is still in perfect working order.
There is some wear around the edges of the label on the bottom.
