A beautiful vintage jewellery box from Sorrento in Southern Italy. It has a very beautiful stylised heart shape and pretty inlaid detail to the lid. Soft plush red velvety linings to the interior compartment.

This is a beautiful vintage jewellery box from Sorrento in Southern Italy. It has a very beautiful stylised heart shape and pretty inlaid detail to the lid. It dates to the 1980s and is still in wonderful condition.
The Exterior
This box has beautiful burl wood and satinwood veneer. The lid has very pretty floral inlay and the wood has a glossy polished and varnished finish. The edges of the lid have a dark ebonised finish which contrasts beautifully against the lighter veneer.
The box has its original polished gold metal piano hinge and gold metal bun feet.
The bottom of the box has retained its original maker's and Made In Italy labels. The maker is the May Flower firm of Sorrento.
The Interior
The interior has a stylish circular compartment which is complete with its original red velvet-like linings.
Condition
This box is in excellent vintage condition. It has sound structure and very little wear.
All of the inlay is present and intact, set beautifully flush into the veneer.
The hinge is in good working order.
There are a few small stains to the velvety linings which are barely noticeable.
