Beautiful Art Deco Christening Jewellery box, dating to the 1930s. Gorgeous glossy high polished finish. Lovely raised repousse country scene to the lid. Original dusky pink linings.

This is a beautiful Art Deco Christening jewellery box. It is ideal for a silver baby bangle or other Christening gifts such as silver spoons and coins. The box dates to the 1930s and is made of Electroplated Nickel Silver. It has a gorgeous glossy high polished finish and the appearance of solid silver.
The Exterior
The lid has a very beautiful and very charming country scene. It has a wonderful raised texture, created by a repousse technique, whereby the metal is hammered out from the underside. The scene features a little girl and boy in an embrace, looking across a field and hills. It also features a cow, lambs, flowers and trees. Beneath the scene is a beautiful scroll with the words 'My Christening Box' in raised fancy script.
The lid has a beautifully shaped lipped handle and a quality hinged opening.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment which is lined with its original dusky pink linings. These linings are made of soft brushed felt and have a suedette like appearance.
Metal Marks/Makers Marks
The bottom of the box is engraved 'ARISTOCRAT' in fancy script lettering. This is the firm who manufactured the box. It is also stamped E.P.N.S. (for Electroplated Nickel Silver) and Made in England.
Condition
This box is in lovely condition for its 80-90 years of age. The hinge is still in perfect working order and the lid closes flush.
There is minor light wear/faint light surface scratches to the metal. The metal has been polished but has a few spots of naturally built-up tarnish remaining.
The interior linings are still in excellent condition and appear to have seen very little use. They are clean, neatly fitted, and have only extremely minor light wear.
The minor wear is commensurate with age and honest use.
