Lovely vintage musical jewellery box, circa 1950s. The box has a recently polished dark wood veneer and three storage drawers that have their original linings. The fronts of the drawers have decorative panels and their original lovely dropper handles.

This is a lovely vintage musical jewellery box, dating to the 1950s.
The Exterior
This box has a beautiful aged dark wood veneer (possibly Oak) that has recently been replenished with polish. It has three storage drawers with decorative panels and beautifully shaped dropper handles.
The Interior
The drawers are lined with their original mustard ribbed cord linings. These have a brushed finish and a velvet-like appearance.
The Musical Movement
This box has a Japanese 'Toyo' musical movement. We have not been able to decipher the tune. Please feel free to call us if you'd like to listen to the music before purchasing this box.
Operating The Musical Movement
The movement is operated via the winding key on the back of the box. The music will begin playing when you slide out the bottom drawer. Eight turns of the key are sufficient to play the tune in full. The music stops, as it should, when the drawer is closed or when the movement has fully unwound.
Notes on Vintage Musical Movements
As with all musical boxes, care should be taken not to overwind the movement. Overwinding will result in the movement malfunctioning.
We would like to make you aware that vintage movements occasionally malfunction. They are already very old and so will naturally have some wear from age and previous use.
We are not responsible for movements that malfunction from further age and use once boxes are purchased. Neither are we responsible for movements that malfunction from overwinding. Please ensure the movement is still working as soon as you receive your box. It will be checked again prior to postage.

Condition
This box is in very good condition and has sound structure. The exterior veneer has some light wear, commensurate with age and honest use. There are some fine superficial scratches on the lid that are not overly noticeable and do not spoil the lovely overall appearance of the box.
All of the linings are still neatly fitted and have no splits or fraying. They have a few minor light marks, again commensurate with age and honest use.
