Beautiful early vintage solid Oak jewellery box with a hallmarked silver cartouche on the lid and a beautiful newly lined compartment. Made in 1937.

This is a beautifully made early vintage jewellery box with a newly lined compartment, It dates to 1937 and has a lovely hallmarked silver cartouche on the lid.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid English Oak. It has a stylish 'flat' streamlined design which was popular throughout the 1920s and 1930s.
The lid has a hallmarked solid silver cartouche. This has the initials 'HEJ' engraved upon it in beautiful fancy script.
The box has a simple lift-off lid.
Hallmark/Maker's Mark
The silver cartouche has a full 1937 Birmingham Assay Office hallmark. It has the maker's mark W.H.H for silversmith William Hair Haseler. This silversmith's firm were producing high-quality silverware from 1864 to the early 1940s.
The Interior
The interior has a single storage compartment which we have beautifully lined. It has a new padded cotton panel in the base and new cotton linings to the walls. The padding provides cushioned protection for jewellery. The fabric is a beautiful golden yellow shade.
Condition
This wonderful old box is in excellent condition with only minor light wear, despite its age.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate unused condition.
There is minor light wear and tarnish to the silver cartouche on the lid. This is commensurate with age and honest use.
