Lovely vintage Italian jewellery box from Sorrento. Vitreous enamelled finish and a beautiful inlaid flower to the lid. Plush red flock linings to the interior. Circa 1990s or early 2000s.

This is a pretty late vintage jewellery box, made in Sorrento, Italy. It dates to the 1990s or early 2000s.
The Exterior
The lid has a beautiful inlaid leafy flower and a lovely mottled enamelled finish. The inlay consists of several colourful varieties of wood. The body of the box is also finished with the same enamel decoration. The enamel is vitreous and has a subtle shimmer.
The wood beneath the enamelling is satinwood and all of the wood/enamel has a polished and varnished finish. It is beautifully smooth and has a glossy sheen.
The box has its original polished gold metal piano hinge.
The Interior
The interior has a beautiful Mahogany veneer, also with a polished and varnished glossy finish. It has a single small storage compartment with soft plush red flock linings.
Maker
This box was hand made in Sorrento, Italy, by the Attardi inlaid woodworks firm. It has its original makers label on the bottom.
Condition
This box is in good condition with minor light wear. There are a few small blemishes within the enamelled varnished finish.
The interior linings are neatly fitted and in good clean condition.
There is slight movement in the hinge.
