Beautiful Art Nouveau jewellery box, dating to 1890/1900. Pretty pokerwork design upon the lid and a newly refurbished interior. Complete with original working lock and key.

This is a lovely antique jewellery box from the Art Nouveau era with a decorative Arts & Crafts design on the lid. It is circa 1890/1900 and the interior has been beautifully refurbished by ourselves.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid wood which has a stained finish. It has a lovely delicate pokerwork design on the lid which features a pretty scrolling ribbon and leafy branches. Pokerwork, also known as pyrography, is the art of decorating wood by burning onto it a design with a heated metal point.
The box has its original brass hinges; working brass lock, and pretty heart shaped key.
The bottom of the box has a new felt covering which will protect the surfaces of furniture.
The Interior
The interior has been newly refurbished by ourselves. There are cream premium cotton velvet panels to the compartment, and quality paper linings to the inside of the lid.
The base panel of the compartment is padded, providing cushioned protection for jewellery.
The paper to the inside of the lid has a beautiful print featuring flowers and birds.
Condition
This wonderful old box is in very fair condition for its 120/130 years of age. It has sound structure. There is some wear as expected from age and honest use.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate unworn/unused condition.
The hinges are still in good working order and the box locks securely. Please note the key stays in situ when the box is locked.
