Beautiful antique Edwardian jewellery box, circa 1900/1910. Stunning Satinwood veneer with beautiful figuration, plus decorative inlay. Fully refurbished interior and 'secret' locking mechanism.

This is a beautiful antique Edwardian jewellery box, dating to 1900/1910. It has a newly refurbished interior and a secret locking mechanism.
The Exterior
This box is made of solid Mahogany and has stunning Satinwood veneer. It also has beautiful inlaid decoration, consisting of a variety of beautiful hardwoods. The Satinwood has wonderful figuration, plus a rich warm colour and a lovely shimmer.
The box has a novel 'secret' spring loaded locking mechanism which doesn't require a key. There is a small lug in the keyhole which you simply press to the right in order to unlock the lid. The lid must be lifted up as you press the lug.
The box is complete with its original decorative gilt metal carry handles, and its original stop hinges which hold the lid upright.
The bottom of the box has its original baize covering.
The Interior
The interior has its original lift out hardwood storage tray, plus a further single compartment beneath.
The storage tray has four compartments which are newly lined with soft red felt. The top edges of the storage tray have their original gilt finish and the bottom of the tray has a new green felt covering.
The compartment beneath plus the inside of the lid are newly lined with beautiful handmade printed paper. This is a lovely plum colour with a floral print and gold highlights.

Condition
This beautiful box is in excellent condition. It has sound structure and only minor light wear from age and use.
All of the veneer and inlay is present and intact.
The hinges and lock are still in great working order.
The interior linings, being new, are in immaculate unused/unworn condition.

International postage is £25 by Royal Mail International Tracked and/or Signed For postage. Delivery is fast, within 3-5 working days to Europe and 5-7 working days to the rest of the world. Please note that we cannot deliver to international PO boxes as we use a secure insured postal service that requires a signature.
