A lovely antique solid Ebony pot with fully hallmarked silver embellishments. Perfect for storing small items of jewellery or little trinkets. Circa 1905.

This is a lovely small antique Ebony wood pot for small pieces of jewellery or little trinkets. The lid has hallmarked silver embellishments which date the pot to 1905. The interior has a new velvet pad which will cushion delicate pieces of jewellery.
The Exterior
This pot is made of solid Ebony wood. Its lid has two fully hallmarked solid silver embellishments with pretty engraved decoration. The lid screws on and off.
Hallmark/Maker's Mark
The silver has a full English, London Assay Office hallmark, with the date letter K for 1905. It has the maker's mark HFD & Co of silversmiths H F Daltry & Co. These silversmiths made a variety of silver wares, such as bookmarks, dressing table sets, glove stretchers, perfume bottles and letter openers.
The Interior
We have added a new padded quality velvet panel to the base of the compartment. This provides cushioned protection for jewellery. The velvet is a beautiful Royal Blue shade.
History
This lovely pot started its life as a ladies high quality powder pot. Some powder residue can still be seen in the threads of the lid/pot.
Condition
This pot is in very good condition for its 118 years of age. The lid still screws on securely.
There are some tiny pin prick holes in the top of the lid from where silver initials once used to be. These were removed at some point in the box's history.
There is one fine hairline in the body of the pot which is barely noticeable. This doesn't affect the structure of the pot which is still sound.
There is minor age related wear to the Ebony.
